New Year’s tree: planting of a tree

January 10th, 2008

Those who prefer an alive and growing fur-tree in the middle of the manor and are sure that the tree will feel like comfortably, can seize the opportunity of the large-sized trees planting technology (up to 10 meters in height) with the closed root system, or, with a rootball.

Though this pleasure is expensive enough (depending on the variety and the size, one tree with the planting can cost from 300 up to 10000 dollars), but you will receive a big tree at once, and with an establishment guarantee. Certainly, such works should be carried by experts with special technical equipment.

Even if you had not time, or have not thought of it during the traditional landing period - in spring and in autumn - modern technical equipment allows to do it in winter. Buying large-sized coniferous tree, pay attention that the tree was not “one-sided”, had not spots of brown needles or branches without needles. Also pay attention to traces of strong pruning.

The small amount of cut off or broken branches is acceptable, but multiple pruning can indicate removal of damaged or sick parts of a plant. Remember, that you buy an alive green friend for a long time, and it will demand care.

New Year’s tree: world traditions

January 9th, 2008

In the USA, as a New Year’s tree are used various kinds of firs and pine-trees. So, for example, for installation of one of the most well-known in the USA “fur-trees” - in Washington near the Capitol - since 1964 have been used 13 kinds of evergreen coniferous trees.

Among them there are such little-known for Russia, but very beautiful verieties of firs and pine-trees as Douglas fir, white pine, balsam fir, and, certainly, Colorado spruce, blue form of which decorates main entrances of each local administration in Russia. By the way, the highest alive New Year tree - 67 meters – was established in Seattle in 1950 that is fixed in Guinness Book of Records.

It is necessary to note, that various kinds of a fir and Colorado spruce beat common spruce with an external grace and fairly - they are fluffier.

It is no wonder, and it is connected not so much with the nature of a tree, but with conditions of cultivation. The majority of large western nurseries practice trimming and formation of crones long before the young tress get in shops.

New Year’s tree in a pot: required conditions

You should take into account that plants in tubs need fresh air, or otherwise in a house microclimate with low humidity and greater dust content and absence of natural convection of air weights, the fur-tree can die for half-year. As well as fur-trees, intended for cutting down, “container” trees also have their nurseries. For example, in Scotland there is a unique farm Balakhruen.

They are sold not cut down, but alive in pots that then to be transplanted out in front of the house. Eight years ago the firm was founded by Ken Heledry, who can not see millions of trees on a dump. Scope of manufacture impresses. With a view of economy many operations on care of plants are mechanized. Annually fir-trees are transplanted in a new pot with special compost.

Every year pots become bigger, so that roots have space to grow. The nursery contains Russian trees, seeds for which are specially brought from Russia.

If you want something new and original - buy a silver fir. The cut down firs are delivered from Denmark mainly.

Sellers of this production assure, that the Danish fir can stand in a room till March.
